It's a pity that IBM have (prematurely?) locked the original post "Support Q&A's are moving!". I have been part of DOORS forums for many years dating back to when Telelogic used to run the show and QSS before that. A number of migrations of the forums have occurred over that time as will have been experienced by many others on this forum whose names I recognise over the years and respect as valued contributors to the DOORS forums. Each time these migrations have occurred, valued historical posts were either lost or broken e.g. loss of attachments, broken links etc. I recall Telelogic recognising the short comings of one of their migrations but at least provided a legacy site of the old forum and even Zip file packages of posts and their attachments which was welcome. Will IBM do the same here? The reason I ask is because IBM's selection criteria of which posts will be migrated is IBM's view of what is important and not what is important to its customers, that is, the users of the forums. For example, I would like all posts that were started by or had contributions from Louie Landale and Mathias Mamsch (and there are others) to be migrated. There is a group of users to the DOORS forums who have imparted highly valued (for free) sage advice and solutions to problems regarding DOORS. These posts and associated knowledge base cannot be lost! My request to IBM, is to take into consideration that their selection criteria has some significant holes w.r.t. capturing valued historical posts and to provide a legacy site or other means to search deep into the past for valuable data. Imagine if the internet was to be migrated to internet version 2 using the same criteria.

Re: Support Q&A's are moving! I'm all for moving to a modern forum as this one is pretty outdated, but I hope it actually is an improvement. I share the migration concerns of others. Last time there was an upgrade, all my old post became attributed to "SystemAdmin", and still are. I'm not sure why there would be some bar to cross for posts to be migrated. That seems like it is asking for complaints. |
